A playthrough of Electronic Arts' 1992 one-on-one basketball game for the Sega Genesis, Jordan vs. Bird: Super One on One.
The name tells you just about everything there is to now about the game. It only features the two titular players: Michael Jordan of the Bulls, and Larry Bird of the Celtics. One player can chose either of the stars, or two players can compete against each other in a one-on-one game, for slam dunks, and for three-pointers.
It's pretty bare bones, just like the original computer version and the 1989 NES port. What's here plays well, but there isn't much substance to it. There is no question, though, that this EA self-published 16-bit port is the best way to experience the title: the graphics have received a massive face-lift that really helps it stands out. The music might not be as awesome as David Wise's NES soundtrack was, but overall this is easily the definitive version of the game.
Jordan vs Bird is by no means a bad title - I actually used to have quite a bit of fun with it - but it won't take long before the only time it comes off the shelf is if you have a friend that wants to take it for a spin. For the solitary gamer, you'll have done with everything the game can offer within an hour of playing it for the first time.
