The first step towards increasing your VA disability rating is to review all of your existing VA disability ratings and look for potential areas where an increase may be warranted. Some common reasons for a potential upgrade include changes in medical conditions, additional diagnoses or new evidence which supports an increased severity or duration of a disability.
The purpose of this video is to discuss which VA disabilities are rated highest and in this example, we will focus on bilateral pes planus that has a 0% rating and mental health that has a 30% rating.
In the case of bilateral pes planus, a 30% rating is typically awarded for extreme pain, instability or deformity that significantly restricts normal daily activities. To receive a 0% rating, it must be shown that there is no significant impairment or disability resulting from this condition.
When it comes to mental health disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety or depression, the VA rates these conditions based on the severity of their effects on the individual's ability to work and perform normal day-to-day activities.
