In an internet-less world, their incredibly talented creators had limited resources and never met actors they depicted. Yet they managed to nuance the posters with a huge range of emotions that kept pulling audiences and helped make Bollywood the world's largest film industry.

Speaker: Ali Adil Khan
Adil is the founder of the South Asian Gallery of Art & director of the S.A.G.A. Foundation in Toronto. He's an art critic, curator, writer & collector. He has curated exhibitions in Canada, and served as an advisor to various museums including the ROM & Aga Khan Museum. In researching hand-painted Bollywood posters, he travelled to India to meet with and watch the only remaining artists practise this art form. Among his collection, vintage Bollywood posters are a cherished centrepiece.
