Paul McCartney recently shared the origin story behind the title of The Beatles' legendary album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.' During a recent episode of his podcast "Paul McCartney: A Life In Lyrics," McCartney recounted a humorous misunderstanding with one of the band's road crew members, Mal Evans.
Recalling the moment, McCartney explained that while on a plane with Evans, the roadie requested salt and pepper. However, McCartney misheard him and responded with, "What? Sgt. Pepper?" Evans clarified that he had asked for salt and pepper, not "Sgt. Pepper." This amusing mix-up ultimately inspired the iconic album title.
