(20 Apr 2020) ACTRESS DEBI MAZAR HAS RECOVERED FROM COVID-19 AND SAID SHE WANTS TO EMERGE AFTER THE PANDEMIC LIKE A BUTTERFLY
Actress Debi Mazar said she's been symptom free of COVID-19 for almost two weeks.
The actress, best-known for roles in the movie "Goodfellas" and TV shows "Entourage" and "Younger," announced she tested positive about a month ago on social media but said she "feels really good now."
"I got hit pretty hard," she said from her home in Brooklyn. "I think I got it on the subway. And, you know, it came on with the usual symptoms - a headache, fever, 10-day fever, incredible aches and pains. It was like being on the flu but intensified 10 times."
Mazar said her husband, famed Italian chef Gabriele Corcos and their two teenage daughters, have also shown symptoms but haven't been tested.
Mazar said she had a 102.7 fever, and some days she was so sick she had to sleep all day.
"I'm just happy to be right now on the other side of it," she said, smiling.
Just before the pandemic took hold, she was set to start shooting season seven for "Younger."
"We had photoshoots planned. We had already started to do fittings. I had acrylic nails put on, which I don't have anymore. I took them off. I had my roots done, which now I have my gray coming in. You could see it. It's kind of fabulous. I'm still embracing stuff. I think it's a very interesting time. We're slowing down, but. Yeah. No. All work was wiped out. And for us as actors, you know, it's - we're not part of the stimulus package and there's just no income coming in. So, we're just not spending anything and really just trying to prepare. I want to emerge out of this as a butterfly, not like 'Hey.' Out of quarantine. You know, I really want to just come out lighter."
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
