This hike takes to Aïn Soltane, close to the Algerian border in Tunisia. A great nature trail that take us through the forested hills and deep valleys.
It was a cold day, so we had to have layers of cloths on but it got better as we walked got warmed up. The nature was great, so much trees and different types of plants and animals. We walked through a few farms where we saw the animals and I had a close encounter with some turkeys.
We saw how the locals cut the bark off trees to use as firewood and building materials, and they leave the tree standing so it can regrow its bark without losing the tree. A very environmentally friendly way of using natural resources.
We then took a tough and dangerous hike down to a water fall called Damous El Khanga. A great small waterfall, with different levels. It was very crowded as it had multiple hiking groups there at the same time. I tried to get better shoots but fell and broke my tripod.
After that it was all about hiking out to meet the bus to head back to Tunis. It was a long trail but we got a left from a pickup truck that made it all easier.
A great day in nature with great people!
