Setting up dust collection in a small shop while saving space and money is an eternal struggle for woodworkers. Which dust collector should you buy? How much should you expect to spend? Do I need to run a dedicated electrical circuit to install dust collection? These questions have plagued me since I moved my shop into my two car garage. Dust collectors are expensive and all the attachments, hoses and filters can double the initial investment! It can be enough to make you throw in the towel and simply live with the saw dust or settle for a shop vac, like I did for years. In this video, I implement some small shop dust collection using a 1 HP Wall-mounted dust collector manufactured by Grizzly and some 4-inch sewer pipe.

The dust collection in my shop is tailored to conserving space, saving money, and using a minimal amount of power. Working in a small shop is challenging enough without working around hoses, tubes, and a large dust collector taking up valuable floor space! By the end of this video, I have my Table Saw, Lathe, and Radial Arm Saw all tied into dust collection.
