Mt . Juliet is the largest city in Wilson county with a population of almost 40,000. It is in western Wilson county next to the Nashville neighborhood of Hermitage. It is about 17 miles east of downtown Nashville on interstate 40 and 10 miles east of the Nashville airport. Percy Priest lake is southwest of Mt . Juliet and Old Hickory Lake is northwest of Mt. Juliet. Mt. Juliet was the fastest growing city in Tennessee from 2000 to 2016. Wilson county has a population of 150,000. Mt. Juliet was named after an estate in Ireland. The only commuter train in the Nashville metro area runs from Lebanon in Wilson county to downtown Nashville with a stop in Mt. Juliet. It is called the Music City Star or Wego Star.
