Two weeks ago Paul Williams challenged Lizzie Schofield to debate him on the article she wrote in our Pfander.uk blog entitled: Nike's Hijab-Not very sporting
([ Ссылка ])
On Sunday, April the 2nd Lizzie and Paul had that debate, but it turned out to be mostly a tirade by Paul against Jay Smith, the Pfander ministry, and Lizzie, and not very much by Paul on Lizzie's article.
Lizzie, nonetheless, kept to her remit and confronted Paul concerning why he thought her article was full of hate, bigotry, and was Islamophobic.
Here are a few takeaways from that debate:
1) Lizzie didn't interrupt Paul once, though Paul did a number of times to her
2) Lizzie didn't make faces or remonstrate while Paul spoke, though he did it constantly to her
3) Lizzie kept to topic throughout, while Paul showed up to mainly throw hatred and vitriol at Jay Smith and the Pfander team
4) Lizzie began her 5 minute segments by reminding the audience how Paul still refused to answer her many questions concerning his attacks against her article, proving he had real difficulties with these questions, especially concerning any verses of equality for women in the Qur'an.
5) Lizzie, in her time allotments, got through her entire article, proving that Paul's accusations were completely wrong, and then she asked the crowd where these examples of hate, bigotry, extremism, Islamophobia, and Nazism were?
6) She then brilliantly asked Paul to apologize to her and to the YouTube viewers...watch Paul's reaction at this point, as he studiously studies the ground at his feet
7) Lizzie reminded the audience that any proper theologian must exegete scripture to understand how they are to act, as she had done in her article exegeting Surah 33:59 on the hijab, and 1 Corinthians 11:5, 15 on the head coverning
8) She then stated that on Paul's 'Blogging Theology' site, of the 52 latest articles she found, only one of them exegeted scripture, while the rest were nothing more than rants against Christians like Jay Smith, Lizzie Schofield and John McClatchie, proving that they were replete with the very kind of hate which Paul was accusing her of in her article....what hypocrisy!
9) Lizzie ended the debate by asking Paul to stop being so 'silly', and start being 'serious'. One can tell by his expression at this point that he got the intent of her message perfectly.
Note: Pfander does not support personal insults, nor 'ad hominem' towards anyone in our videos, because we care for those with whom we disagree. We welcome healthy discussions and debates on the ideas presented in the films. We ask, however, that you interact with the ideas we introduce, and refrain from simply attacking the people who submit them. The Pfander team.
