This past year has been unlike any other for those who celebrate culture through song, dance and performance as concert halls have remained dark throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been a difficult time for so many of us who love live performance, but we have found new ways of connecting with the world virtually in the meantime. And we still celebrate how the arts can bring people together.
The United Nations understands this importance and has marked May 21 as World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development to celebrate how people from all walks of life, all faiths and all countries can share their experiences and their culture with each other to better promote peace, tolerance and understanding.
That has been the mission of the International Festival of Language and Culture for 18 years as we have brought more than 15000 performers from 160 countries together for performances on 6 continents.
While our own stages of have been dark during this trying year, we have found joy in watching past performances of IFLC events and have been inspired by the talent that has graced stages around the world.
We look forward to the time soon when we can travel to other countries, put on dazzling shows, and connect people of different backgrounds through a shared love of performance, but we will continue to celebrate the diversity of the world and the ability of the arts to build bridges and bring peace.
