Olivier Kamitatu on the meaning of African Independence.
“The dynamics of management in Africa in the twenty-first century is the fusion between modernity and tradition.” - Grietjie Verhoef, 2019
African Independence was the achievement of autonomy for the African people.
However, it is not that simple.
Independence was meant to be freedom from dependency, but mono-product economies, corruption, ethnoreligious conflicts, classism, and other factors were soon to dominate as institutions Africa continued to depend on.
Independence was not freedom, it was a passing of power.
And at the time, many people believed that this was all Africa could be.
However, today’s generations has no ties to these original systems. The new generation can make better choices, and dominate in establishing better infrastructure for tomorrow.
This generation is truly free. More free than any other. If only they saw it.
The only thing left to do is to do. To remember the fights of your ancestors, and leap to what could have been there tomorrow.
The opportunities are endless, claim them.
Freedom is today.
