Vice President Cheney is in Baghdad. The unannounced visit is the first stop on a visit to the Middle East.

Cheney left Washington Tuesday night on Air Force Two headed to the Iraqi capitol.

On the way, the Vice President and his entourage changed planes at a U-S Air Force base in England where he switched to a military plane for the flight into Baghdad.

He's already met with General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker. Petraeus is the top U-S military commander in Iraq.

He's also met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and plans meetings with Iraq's Kurdish President along with both Sunni and Shiite vice presidents.

Aides say Cheney wants to get a sense of the situation on the ground and deliver the message that more work is needed on the political front. That includes a push to end the fighting between Iraq's many ethnic factions.
