Through molecular, optogenetic, and chemogenetic manipulations of fear circuits, Dr. Ressler seeks to identify novel treatments and interventions for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Ressler will discuss recent advances in our understanding of the molecular neurobiological mechanisms underlying fear processing in rodent models. He will then explore how this translates to fear-related disorders in humans. He will also discuss new findings from human genetics research pointing to molecular genetic pathways that may further our understanding of PTSD and fear processing in traumatized human populations.

Kerry Ressler, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University. He is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and a Member of the Institute of Medicine.
