A resident on bed rest or whose activities are restricted can benefit from modified passive range-of-motion (PROM) exercises to help prevent joint contractures. Moving a joint through its range in appropriate planes maintains or increases its motion and prevents limited mobility. The Nurse Aide can perform the modified PROM to residents as part of their skill set.
