Stanley Bailey No. 5 Hand Plane Restoration
Watch a rusty, dirty Stanley Bailey Type 17 Hand Plane (1946-1947) get disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled. Taking apart this Stanley Bailey Hand Plane was easy. Many times there is a frozen screw that can slow down a project. This was my second hand plane to restore and it is much easier the second time around.
This hand plane, along with 8 other vintage tools, was given to me by a family friend, Chuck. These tools were owned by the Chuck’s father, B.J. We both agreed it would be a great if I restored the Stanley plane and presented it to a young man named Charlie, the grandson of B.J.
This restoration started on January 1, 2021 and was completed on January 20. I hope you see a quality effort in this video. Please give me some feedback.
All video was captured and edited using an iPhone 8 Plus, an iMac with iMovie and Photoshop.
