Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Power, marks the night through which Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by the angel Gabriel. The blessing of this night is equal to thousand nights of sincere worship as angels descend on the earth to shower Allah's blessings on the faithful. Muslims spend Laylat al-Qadr in worship and devotion, waiting for the final prayer, where emotions rise and tears fall.
"Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not to show off) then all his past sins will be forgiven." Hadith, Bukhari Vol 1, Book 2:34
There is no history in the Qur'an as to when the specific date of such holy night is. However, in most Islamic countries, Muslims strive to seek Laylat al-Qadar during the last ten nights of Ramadan, specifically odd nights, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th. Based on Hadith, no particular night has been fixed so that the yearning for Layalat al-Qadr sees people spending more nights in worshipping Allah
