Here is an excerpt from Bhagawan's discourse delivered on August 27, 1996.
He says -
Prahalada stands for character. At one time, Prahalada was defeated and the whole heaven was enjoyed by Indra. Later Prahalada conquered Indra and he too was ruling this heaven.
Indra lost his kingdom and felt very weak. He prayed to a priest, "Swami, how am I to get back my kingdom? Tell me the path!"
The priest said, "Prahalada is conducting a yajna by the name 'Vishwajit'. He will offer anything that you ask for! Watch this time and go there."
Indra took upon the form of a Brahmin. He went to Prahalada. Prahalada welcomed him and asked, "What is it that you want?"
Indra asked, "I want your character!" Prahalada asked, "What is the profit that you will make with my character?"
Indra said, "Don't consider anything. You wanted me to ask and I asked. What I am going to do with your character, don't bother about it. Your duty is to offer anything that is asked for. So, I asked. Are you prepared to give or not?"
Prahalada said, "I will sacrifice my character."
Within five minutes, out of Prahalada, there came out a brilliant light. Prahalada saw that light. He asked, "Who are you who has come out of me?"
This light did salutation and said, "Prahalada, I am your character! So long as I am with you, I am responsible for your reputation. Now you are offering me to someone else. Therefore, I am leaving you."
The moment character left Prahalada, there came out next a brilliant form, a radiant form. Prahalada watched and asked, "O King, who are you? You seem to be an emperor."
The form replied, "Prahalada, I am your reputation. So long as this character is in you, I can remain with you as name and fame. Since character left you, I am also following."
Prahalada stood still for some time. Later, a beautiful form of a woman came out of him. With folded hands, he prayed to her, "Mother, who are you?"
"Prahalada, character and reputation have left you. I am the kingdom, I am the wealth of your kingdom. Therefore, I am also leaving you." Thus, Indra could pick easily up the wealth of the kingdom. Then only Prahalada lost his kingdom.
Therefore, wherever there is character, there is reputation and kingdom. Thus, God has got all these six. Therefore, God has all these six attributes - wealth, righteousness, name, fame, prosperity, and wisdom.
