Microsoft Excel Tutorial: How to Create Hyperlinks to Maps Using Latitude and Longitude Data in Excel | MrExcel Podcast.
Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In today's episode, we will be discussing how to create a hyperlink to a map using latitude and longitude data in Excel. This is a common problem faced by many users, and we have a simple solution for you.
The question for today's episode comes from Mike in the UK, who has thousands of rows of data with latitude and longitude information. He was manually creating hyperlinks to maps, but quickly realized that it would take forever. So, we will be showing you a faster and more efficient way to create these hyperlinks.
After some research, we found that the URL for Google Maps is the best option for this task. We will be using the formula =F1&", "&B2 to create the URL, which will then be used in the HYPERLINK function. This function will take the URL as the link location and a friendly name, such as "Click here for Map", as the display text. This will make the hyperlinks clickable and easily accessible.
In this episode, we will also be discussing the differences between Google Maps and Bing Maps, and why we chose to use Google Maps for this solution. We will also be demonstrating how the hyperlinks work by clicking on a location in Merritt Island, FL, which you may recognize from our GeoFlow (now Power Map) podcasts.
So, if you have a large amount of data with latitude and longitude information, this is a great way to quickly create hyperlinks to maps using the HYPERLINK function. We want to thank Mike for sending in this question and for all of you for tuning in. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more helpful Excel tips and tricks.
