How to clean a DLP projector exhibiting a problem with the projected image or picture such as green hue/tint/interference/rolling and possibly flashing colors on the screen
This video is specifically about cleaning and repairing an Optoma HD72i ThemeScene DLP Optoma Themescene.
Get your hands on an anti-static vacuum cleaner and/or aerosol-like canister of compressed air and a Q-tip or cotton bud or cotton wool swab.
Typical symptoms suggesting an internal clean is necessary: green or other visible colour interference, or flashing colours on the projected screen/picture similar to this [ Ссылка ] after the projector has been on for a short period (anything from a few mins to 30 or so mins) at normal fan speed. Projector running hot. This can be caused by dust around the optics, on the colour wheel or on the sensor chip or circuits nearby. If the colour interference does not appear when the HD72i projector is set to 'High Altitude' fan speed, then the problem could quite possibly be that a simple clean is necessary as shown in this video. (If in doubt, take the unit to a suitably qualified repairer.)
Caution: do not power the projector lamp on and then simply disconnect via the mains! This can shorten the projector's life. Always switch off the lamp using the correct button on the projector or remote control so that the fan can run and cool the projector and lamp down properly before disconnecting the projector from the mains supply/electricity.
Please read the information at the start of the video before attempting anything. Do not attempt if you are unsure on any part of the procedure. Follow this procedure at your own risk - do not attempt if unsure and instead consult a qualified repair technician. Whether removing the lamp or following the procedure in this video, always unplug from mains/electricity before starting. It is not recommended that you keep the projector plugged in as a ground to prevent static damage.
