by John Pless Soddy Daisy Police say a dispute over drugs may be the motive behind a killing that leaves one young man dead, another in the Hamilton County Jail.24-year-old Casey L. Burgiss was reported missing July 21. His family put missing person posters with his picture all over Soddy Daisy. Three months later Burgiss' body is found at the end of Lane Road. "There were rumors from the very beginning that foul play was involved, but we held out hope until yesterday," Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phil Hamrick said.Monday night Soddy Daisy and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office detectives hiked into the woods on the side of Montlake Mountain. They were following up on information that they would find the Burgiss' remains. His remains were found just several hundred yards from where the accused killer lives. "They developed information and last night charged Keith Steward with criminal homicide," Chief Hamrick said. The 19-year-old Hamrick was living with his parents on Layne Road when he was charged and booked in the Hamilton County Jail.Chief Hamrick said information came from several sources, adding Steward did give a statement. It's believed Burgiss was shot but that has to be confirmed by the medical examiner. He is described as being a drifter, never really living in one place. As for motive Chief Hamrick said "it could be drug related, it may be a sale that went bad, we're not sure, it's still developing."Tuesday morning detectives still had the area around the scene and Steward's home secured. They're looking for evidence to help their case.Burgiss' family said they had information early-on that he was killed and dumped off the side of the mountain. Detectives spent hundreds of man hours following up on leads."We've had four detectives and two K-9 officers working pretty much non-stop on this one case," Cheif Hamrick said.
