One of the new furniture interactions added in the 2.0 update was for the cat tower. Instead of just being able to tap on it once like before, villagers can now play with the little ball hanging from it. The movements are identical to the new speed bag interaction.

In this video, you'll see all 27 cats (23 villagers and 4 NPCs, including Katrina since she's a type of big cat) who have amiibo cards interacting with the cat tower in Punchy's rundown vacation home. I designed it as a kind of cat lair that would be hidden in a junkyard or something, with lots of cardboard boxes and other cat favorites.
