“The path of devotion,” called Bhakti Yoga in Sanskrit, is the approach to the Divine through love. Actually, the word bhakti means the mutual love between the bhakta and the Beloved, the Divine. We express the love towards the Divine using different means, like hymns, prayers, the Lord’s names, devotional songs, rituals, etc. In Hridaya, very dear to our hearts are bhajans and kirtan, devotional singing nights through which we give voice to the Heart and we really set our hearts on fire.
Swami Vivekananda said, “When a person loves the Lord, the whole universe becomes dear to him ... his whole nature is purified and completely changed.”
In Bhakti Yoga, love is the means, the path, and the final aim. The personal love of the devotee will blossom into Universal Love, and finally into Love-Being.
The great master Sri Ramakrishna used to say, “The best path to union with God is to follow the way of Divine Love.” ❤️
