Ingredients:
1 cup black whole masoor lentils soak for sometime
half cup basmati rice
2 small chopped onions
1 medium size sliced red onion
2 teaspoon of mix Arabic spice powder or Indian Garam masala powder
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
Salt as per taste
Olive oil
Cooking oil
Method:
1)Start with caramelizing onions first for garnish as it takes time ...take a pan , add olive oil 2 teaspoons and 3 teaspoons cooking oil warm up and then add sliced onions. leave on medium to slow flane for 10mins till the onions are dark brown not burnt ...keep stirring in between. Once done remove it in a dish and keep aside for garnishing.
2) Lets cook rice n lentils:
Take a pressure cooker add 2 teaspoons of olive oil and 3 teaspoons of cooking oil. Warm up the oils, add chopped onions and saute until brown, then add soaked lentils, rice, arabic mix spice powder or garam masala powder, salt, cummin powder and pressure cook until 3 whistles. Make sure there is no excess water.
Remove the rice n lentils in a bowl and garnish with caramelized onions.
