Just 30 kilometres south of the Turkish border, lies the small Syrian town of Al Bab. It's been controlled by Daesh for years and the effort to force out the terror group has proven tough and costly. But now Turkish-backed rebels have seized the western part of the town, while the Syrian regime advances from the south. And Russia is supporting both sides with air strikes. The fight for its control has created some unlikely alliances between groups that are battling each other elsewhere. After three months of fighting, the flashpoint town is now on the verge of collapse. We ask how its capture would change the dynamics of the war in Syria.
