BLM Phoenix Metro, Mass Liberation AZ, Poder In Action and community members directly impacted by Phoenix police violence held a press conference to share our responses to the DOJ investigative report on Phoenix Police.
One thing is clear, if the DOJ and City truly want to make Phoenix safer for Black, Indigenous, Brown, unsheltered, disabled, and young community members, they must take accountability and implement the demands of those most directly impacted by police violence. Police (DOJ) will never police the police (PPD) into keeping us safe. The communities closest to the harm are closest to the solution. Refusing to listen to the community is refusing to keep us safe.
