OCEARCH Expedition leader Chris Fischer talks about how he and Brett McBride started OCEARCH and other shark related topics. Apologies for some of the audio issues. It was recorded while at sea onboard the MV OCEARCH during #ExpeditionNASFA.
Chris Fischer is expedition leader of the shark tracking group OCEARCH. The group catches and tags great whites sharks, tiger sharks and other species to place satellite tracking tags. The SPOT tags give the global position of sharks each time the tag breaks the surface for 30 seconds. The GPS signal is then sent to satellites that relay the position to the OCEARCH shark tracking app.
