Follow the Adventurer Project as they visit Shenandoah National Park. It is in the Appalachian Mountains and 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) pass through the park. A lot of wild life live in the park such a bears, deer, and and the Shenandoah salamander. The park's main road is called Skyline Drive and it is 105 miles long.
Top 5 things to do in Shenandoah National Park:
5. Skyline drive: This 105 mile road that goes through the park starts at Rockfish Gap (Mile 0) and ends at Front Royal (Mile 105). There are also 75 overlooks along the road and four entrance stations throughout the park.
4. Stony Man: Is a 1.6 mile hike with 340 feet of elevation change. The day that we hiked was very foggy.
3. Dark Hollow Falls: Is a moderate 1.4 mile hike down to Dark Hollow Falls which is a large cascading falls.
2. Doyles River Falls Trail: This is a moderate 3.4 mile (out & back) hike. It is a challenging hike though it has epic views of two waterfalls, the upper and lower falls. Both falls are great and definitely worth the hike.
1. Hawksbill Summit: The trail is a 1.6 mile out-and-back hike to the Hawksbill viewing platform at 4,051 feet. The hike is considered a moderately challenging route and is the highest point in the park.
