Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday declared martial law in four regions which Moscow annexed from Ukraine in September. Last month, Russia held a series of controversial referendums in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of eastern Ukraine which were condemned by the international community.
