It's incredible how "real" our thoughts and feelings can be - especially when we're upset. Our minds will fill up with stories and reasons to try and make sense of these strong feelings. It just feels better to have a "reason," instead of being upset and not knowing specifically why.
I've found that many of the "reasons" my mind will come up with are often far from the reality of my situation. This happens a lot more often when my Bipolar Disorder symptoms are involved. I will worry, assume, or react to something in ways I end up regretting later. Something that feels like a major issue today, might not even be a concern tomorrow. This can be very confusing to not only myself, but everyone around me who observes the way I experience life. This is a very common struggle among those who have Bipolar Disorder.
In this latest video from Polar Warriors Bipolar Support, I'm going to share some stories with wisdom for when times get tough. These stories show examples of how easily our thoughts can be influenced by our raw underlying emotions. Working on creating new "meanings" for the things that happen in our lives can literally change our own "stories" - and therefore lives.
