Makaton Signing of the Jewish blessing in Hebrew for Lighting Shabbat candles.
Notes:
(1) The final sign for "Shabbat" or "Sabbath" is not Makaton, but is taken from a Deaf Jewish BSL signer's interpretation. It seems more appropriate than signing "Sunday" which is the standard BSL for "Sabbath" and used the sing for Christian prayer.
(2) "Bless" in Makaton is slightly different to the sign shown here, but again seems more culturally appropriate and is based on BSL from a Jewish context.
(3) Some Jewish people may feel that it is inappropriate to say "Adonai" or "Eloheinu" (names for God) in a video of saying a blessing. I have done so here because it is for "chinuch" (educational purposes). Were I to use a different word it might mislead children to say the blessing incorrectly.
