Dynamics 365 Business Central - Assigning Multiple Dimensions in the Chart of Accounts
To avoid having to create a complicated chart of accounts, you can use dimensions as a basis for analysis where you can track and categorize your entries. The more dimensions you use, the more detailed reports you can base your business decisions on.
To assign multiple dimensions in the chart of accounts, search for the Chart of Accounts in the Tell Me window and select the related link.
In this example, we will use the office supplies expense.
Select Account and Dimensions-Multiple actions.
Edit List.
Select Dimension Code. If you select Value Posting as Code Mandatory, you can leave the Value Code empty. However, If you select Same Code in Value Posting then a Value Code is required.
In this example, we will use the Code Mandatory in Value Posting and leave Value Code empty.
