ISCAR is proud to announce the launch of the new range of indexable slot milling cutters, designed to provide higher productivity and cost reduction. Building upon the success of their previous slot milling cutters that mount XNMU 13 & XNMU 09 indexable square double-sided inserts, ISCAR introduces the HELISLOT family of cutters which also mount smaller size 06 inserts.
The HELISLOT milling cutters are specifically designed to effectively machine slots and grooves in widths ranging from 7 to 11 mm. Available in a diameter range of 32-160 mm, these cutters come in various design configurations. The FDN-XN06 shell mills feature a flange and are available in a diameter range of 63-160 mm. The SDN-XN06 disc-type mills have a central bore and are available in a diameter range of 63-125 mm. Finally, the ETS-XN06 T-slot endmills come with a Weldon shank and MULTI-MASTER threaded connection, and are available in a diameter range of 32-50 mm. The ETS cutters also have inner channels for effective coolant supply to each cutting edge.
The cutters utilize the advanced square double-sided inserts XNMU 0603, which offer a durable structure and 8 helical cutting edges (4 right-hand and 4 left-hand). These inserts have positive radial rake angles, resulting in low power consumption, smooth cutting, and excellent straightness of slot profiles. Produced from ISCAR's SUMO TEC carbide grades, the XNMU 0603 inserts provide efficient use of carbide material and offer an attractive cost solution or price per cutting edge.
When clamped in the cutter, the inserts produce staggered teeth with alternating axial rakes, compensating for axial forces and providing stable cutting even under high loads and unfavorable machining conditions.
The new HELISLOT tools combine secure insert mounting, progressive cutting geometry, and advantageous carbide grades to improve slot milling operations. The cutters are suitable for machining materials mainly from the ISO P (steel, ferritic, and martensitic stainless steel) and ISO K (cast iron) groups.
