(19 Oct 2020) Bucharest residents Monday commented on mandatory mask wearing on public transport, indoor public spaces and crowded areas such as markets, as part of the government's measures to stem a rise in new coronavirus infections.
One student called it an "alarm singal", although a pensioner questioned if it was necessary to wear a mask in outdoor spaces that were not crowded.
The Group for Strategic Communication, a government department, says 3.02 per 1,000 people have been infected in Romania.
On Monday, the total number of confirmed infections in Romania - a country of some 19 million people - stood at over 180,000 including 5,872 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
