Today's depressing news of the death of Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, hit me hard. Instead of being depressed, I decided to pay tribute to a man who I held in very high regard.
The music is from Jimmy James off Check Your Head, with me doing the new vocals. I hope you enjoy it. Even if you don't, it was very therapeutic for me to make it. Rest in peace, MCA.
Lyrics:
People how ya doing
It's a sad day dawning
47 years, now MCA is gone an'
The world ain't the same
New York City is bawlin'
Not like LeBron, I mean tears fallin'
This a type of kinda like a formal dedication
Adam Yauch gave us much inspiration
Tibet and Bad Brains won't be the same
50 million broken-hearted people screaming your name
Sending out love from all the corners of the land
To Mike D, Adrock and Adam's whole fam
We won't play the wall when we hear Beasties jams
We'll think of MCA and we'll give him a hand
Cuz he's....
Still feelin' down I need some soothing
Paul's Boutique is what I'm using
Hot Sauce Committee in the car when I'm cruising
What an icon the music world is losing
Put on Check Your Head, heard MCA
His rhymes brought us peace and joy and harmony
