Looking for answers, Jamie (Ryan Kwanten) and Detective Jim Lipton (Donald Wahlberg) went to the theater where Mary Shaw, a deceased, evil ventriloquist, kept all her dolls. Suddenly, Mary’s spirit starts to control every doll in the place, using them to attack the two visitors.

What’s the movie Dead Silence about?
One stormy evening, Jamie Ashen (Ryan Kwanten) and his wife, Lisa, receive an anonymous package containing a ventriloquist doll called "Billy". Later that night, Lisa starts playing with Billy while Jamie is out to get some food. Suddenly, a figure approaches Lisa, causing her to scream. When he comes back, Jamie finds Lisa dead with her tongue cut out. Suspected for the murder, Jamie is taken into custody by Detective Jim Lipton (Donald Wahlberg) but is quickly released for lack of evidence. After checking inside Billy’s box, Jamie finds a message mentioning "Mary Shaw", a deceased ventriloquist from his hometown, Raven's Fair. He decides to get back to this town in order to learn the truth about his wife’s murder. There, he hears that a long time ago, the once famous ventriloquist Mary Shaw was humiliated by the young Michael Walker, Jamie’s great uncle. The boy disappeared later and Mary was accused by the Ashten family and lynched. Mary’s last wish was to be turned into a doll before she was buried. However, it seems that she came back from the dead, still in the form of a doll, and is now seeking revenge on Jamie’s entire family.
