Taping the knee cap (aka patella) can often alleviate knee pain, especially knee pain located in the front of the knee.
This type of pain is called "patello-femoral joint pain" and is caused when the knee cap is no longer tracking correctly, which leads to knee pain and irritation.
This simple technique is typically used in conjunction with other exercises designed to strengthen the knee and hip muscles, as part of a comprehensive physical therapy program.
