"Why I am an Atheist" is an essay written by Indian revolutionary Bhagat Singh in 1930 in Lahore Central Jail. It was written in Punjabi. The essay was a reply to his religious friends who thought Bhagat Singh became an atheist because of his vanity.
For him, at his age, to analyze the subject and form an unwavering view of rejecting the prevalent concept of God, is prodigious.
The essay needs to be read by all, especially in today's times when Bhagat Singh is being sought to be taken over by the forces that are working in a domain completely opposite to Bhagat Singh's views and ideologies. It won't be surprising to see the people claiming to be followers of Bhagat Singh falling miles short of this young man's uncompromising determination, dedication, and sharp intellect.
