This is a story of what happens when a developer wants your land. The home in question is this beautiful country mansion. Once a secluded home in the forest on a large 33-acre parcel of land, the Mansion now sits with smashed-out windows, kicked-in walls, and in a state of neglect.

In July 2016 the land was sold for a staggering 15 million dollars which included the home and its outbuildings. In the same year in September, the developer decided to illegally remove 10 large mature trees on the property, resulting in them being charged by the city and angering the existing neighbours. The land was purchased to build a new subdivision with approximately 90 single-detached homes. Originally, in the blueprints for this new construction, it noted that this country home was to remain, but plans changed.

The developer needs to cut through a large portion of the home's property to make streets for the new buildings as well as stormwater management systems. The mansions driveway will be converted into a road going down the valley. This has already resulted in the home's garage, Barn, and shed being knocked down. A separate road will be built shortly that cuts through the home itself, meaning it's only a matter of time until it's knocked down.

While it's crazy that a home like this will be demolished just to make way for a street, most people couldn't pass up the opportunity to sell for such a high dollar amount. With how slow development takes and how often it changes, there's no surprise that this home has sat with a future unknown for such a long time.
