I completed a free 10-day silent meditation retreat, known as "Vipassana". Here's how it changed my life.
The Vipassana meditation is a method that involves scanning your body. Starting from the crown of your head, and recognizing different sensations throughout your body. Realizing that everything rises, and everything passes away. We know this intellectually, but the goal of the meditation is to understand this through experience. Anger will fade. Sadness will fade. Happiness will fade. Everything is constantly transforming.
The technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results. There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to also benefit.
