Although INWED has only been around for a little over a decade, its roots date back to 1919, following the end of the First World War, when many women embraced engineering roles. The Women’s Engineering Society, founded by trailblazers like Lady Katharine Parsons and Rachel Parsons, has since promoted gender equality and inspired young women to pursue engineering careers. Despite only 16.5% of engineers in the UK being female, INWED aims to change that by showcasing the incredible work of women engineers worldwide. This year's theme, #EnhancedByEngineering, highlights how women have enhanced everyday lives and are building a brighter future. By celebrating these achievements, INWED not only raises the profile of female engineers but also encourages young women to join this dynamic field, fostering a more inclusive and diverse engineering industry
