A professional job is never rushed, and there are no shortcuts when installing a boiler. However, the following points are some of the key stages involved in the process:
- Pipes are taken from the wall around the old boiler unit. Open vent boiler unit is taken off the wall.
- Old flue that was fed through the side wall is taken out. The hole left behind is bricked off and sealed.
- We prepare the area for where the replacement boiler will be installed. In this case, the airing cupboard in the centre of the house on the first floor.
- The heating cylinder itself is removed. With a plasterboard wall behind, unit fixings are secured so that the combi boiler can be wall mounted.
- The new flue is installed which is channeled through the ceiling above and out the roof. Brackets help secure the pipe in place, ensuring stability and protection from damage and knockabout.
- With the boiler then fixed into place, space is left above to access the flue and analyser readings. Space is now available around the side for maintenance.

The high efficiency condensing combination boiler is a fantastic idea for saving space. Combi boilers are the majority of all the new domestic boilers installed in the UK.
They've been around for about 30 years, but have gained massive popularity in the last decade.
Based on an 'as-and-when' basis, they provide DHW (Domestic Hot Water) only when it is needed.
