The clip was filmed by prison guards during the March 2013 escape of two prisoners from St Jerome detention centre in Quebec, the Independent reports.
The footage has come to light now during the trial of escapee Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau over an unrelated matter.
Video of the escape shows the chopper on the roof of the prison with two accomplices inside.
Hudon-Barbeau and fellow inmate Danny Provencal are seen having trouble climbing a rope onto the roof to reach the helicopter.
