Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, declared he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ask him to put images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi on banknotes because he thinks doing so will make India a rich nation. "Despite our best efforts, there are times when they are in vain if the gods and goddesses are not on our side. I kindly request that Prime Minister Modi have images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi on our coinage (notes). Our nation will prosper if Lakshmi-Ganesha is depicted on our money (notes)'' said Kejriwal during a media briefing. The new notes could feature images of the two deities and Mahatma Gandhi on opposite sides.
