Neiphiu Rio wasn't short of the numbers or allies when he was sworn-in for a record 5th term as Chief Minister of Nagaland. He leads an alliance with the BJP that has now got support from Sharad Pawar's NCP. Speaking to reporters, Sharad Pawar said "We had an understanding with Rio before the polls. There was prolonged discussion on whether. NCP should join the government or sit in the opposition. In the larger interest of Nagaland, NCP has decided to support Rio." In Maharashtra, the NCP is an ally of the Congress and the Uddhav faction of the Sena. But the NCP chief was quick to say that supporting Rio should not be misunderstood as support for the BJP ..even though the two fought the elections as allies.
