Before leaving the BSL-4 laboratory, the staff, wearing their positive pressure suits, take a decontamination shower for six minutes. Viruses that might stick to the suit’s surface are being destroyed. The decontamination shower’s waste water is then heated up and sterilized – like all the other liquid waste from the BSL-4 laboratory.
