As Ratko Mladic made his first appearance at The Hague war crimes tribunal the women of Srebrenica gathered at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial to watch the man accused of the murder of their menfolk refuse to enter a plea.
One of the mothers watching events unfold described her feelings: "When I saw him in the dock I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Why did the people in The Hague call him a Bosnian? He's garbage. He is like a dog. He is a blood thirsty man. He killed our sons. We need to judge him."
