See a sneak preview of the auto-stacking articulation feature coming soon in Finale v26 (due later in 2018).
The goal of Finale version 26 is to reduce the time it takes you to produce whatever music you wish, while simultaneously giving you the flexibility to create your way.
Now when you add more than one articulation to a note, those articulations automatically stack on top of each other.
Let’s add a fermata. The quick way is to hold down the letter F and click on a note. Now let’s add a downbow by holding down the letter D and clicking the note again.
Note that the fermata and the downbow do not collide, but are automatically placed in a vertical stack. Of course you’ve always been able to do this manually in Finale, but think of the time you’ll save now that you don’t have to. If you disagree with the default decision of which item to place on top, you can easily change the stacking order on an individual or global basis.
To change the order globally, simply move the articulation up or down. If you’d like to make a change on an individual basis, you can turn off stacking, then drag items manually. You can also choose to drag any articulation out of a stack, in which case any remaining articulations will move back to fill the gap.
Again, our goal is to help you get your job done faster while staying true to Finale’s spirit of letting you create your way.
