Construction Training Fund (CTF) is providing opportunities for a lot of people to make their career in the building and construction industry, including carpenters and joiners like Akuei Guot. There are a lot of great opportunities at the moment for carpenters and joiners within construction jobs. A typical working day may involve a variety of different tasks.
On the job you will often be:
- building a house framework, walls, roof frame and exterior finish
- installing doors, windows, flooring, stairs, handrails and panelling
- reading and interpreting plans to determine the dimensions, installation procedures and layout of a project
- selecting materials and tools for the job
- measuring and marking materials
- cutting, and shaping materials to join them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
- maintaining and operating hand and power tools
