NuMex Heritage Big Jim Chili Peppers really are as big as you've heard. We grew quite a few that were in that 9 to 10 inch range. Not only are they long, but some of them have some bulk too. As for heat, these would be considered to be somewhat mild. They are rated at about 2 to 3 thousand on the Scoville scale. I found that the longer they are on the plant, the spicier they get. The smaller ones aren't as spicy as the large fully ripe red ones.
