China's first fleet of self-driving taxis hit the roads today in Guangdong province, local media reported. Three autonomous cabs were launched as part of a trial near the Guangzhou University campus. Passengers can request the cab via an app at a starting fare of 12 yuan (£1.30), which is the same price as regular taxis in the city. The 'smart' cabs are operated by public transport group Baiyun Company and the system is developed by Guangzhou-based autonomous driving company WeRide.ai.
